Finding the right setup for your Rivian adventure
Share
Overlanding doesn’t look the same every time. Some days you’re out for a quick trail ride or a weekend away, other times you’re gone for a full week living out of your truck. That’s where a modular setup makes all the difference — adaptable, clean, and quick to adjust.
Weekend Trips and Day Adventures
For shorter trips, I keep things simple. The Gear Platform Bed mounts right in the back of the Rivian, giving me a flat and stable surface to load gear. Underneath, there’s room for storage boxes, recovery gear, and kitchen supplies. Everything is organized, secure, and easy to reach when I need it.
Week-Long Trips
When I’m planning a 7-day trip, the setup changes. I move the gear to the roof with the Gear Platform Roof system. That clears space in the truck bed for my rooftop tent while keeping all my boxes, utensils, and essentials accessible from the back. On longer trips, quick access is everything — you don’t want to be digging for gear when the sun’s going down.
Daily Driving
The beauty of this system? It’s not permanent. For daily use, I just take the modules off. Installation and removal are quick, so the truck is back to being my everyday driver without the extra weight or bulk.
The Modular Advantage
No matter the trip length, these modules keep everything clean, tidy, and where I need it. Instead of fighting clutter or wasting space, I can adapt my Rivian to the adventure ahead. Whether it’s a quick overnight escape or a week-long overland journey, the gear moves with me — not against me.
Some weekends I just throw a few boxes in the back and hit the trail, other times I’m packed for a full week away. The trick is having a system that can keep up with both. That’s why I started playing around with different setups for my gear platforms — and it completely changed the way I travel.
